CHARACTERISTICS

Revisiting The Authentic 1940’s Recipe

Loyal to its origin, Appleton Estate 17 Year Old Legend is an exquisite historic blend. Our iconic Master Blender Joy Spence crafted this extraordinary rum using archival manuscripts and original formulas, faithfully re-creating the J. Wray & Nephew 17 Year Old.

Small Selection of Rare Rums

After decades of experimentation, this one-time release was developed using four very rare distillates that were set aside to rest on the Appleton Estate in only 10 casks. By depleting all available liquid, only 1,500 bottles were produced globally, never to be re-created again.

Minimum Tropical Ageing

Bottled in 2022 after ageing for a minimum of 17 tropical years in Jamaica, this once-in-a-lifetime release represents 40+ years of ageing equivalent in a temperate climate. The careful process created something truly special, whether enjoyed neat or in the most elevated Mai Tai.
