Characteristics
Age-Old Tradition
Master Distiller Dennis Malcolm OBE, keeps The Glen Grant's tradition alive by crafting whisky in the same way as in 1873 when The Major introduced the tall, slender pot stills and unique water-cooling purifiers to guarantee a complex, aromatic, and elegant spirit. Dennis still uses old-fashioned wooden fermenters made from Oregon pine, instead of modern, stainless steel, as wood allows more flavours to develop during fermentation.
All Mode On-Site
Once filled, casks age in traditional stone dunnage warehouses -- the same warehouses used for over a century -- that maintain the perfect conditions to achieve the signature taste profile of The Glen Grant. To further certify the quality, from barley milling to bottling, every drop of The Glen Grant is produced on the distillery grounds, using the pristine, mineral-rich Back Burn water. The Glen Grant is one of the only distillers in Speyside to bottle every drop of spirit on site. The bottling hall was officially opened by His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Duke of Rothesay, in 2013.
Aged To Perfection
The Glen Grant 21 Year Old is matured in the highest quality ex-oloroso sherry casks and bourbon barrels. This precious whisky is left to rest in the distillery's oldest traditional dunnage warehouse, Warehouse Number 4; the ideal resting conditions allow for a perfected slow maturation.
