MASTERY

Master’s Keep Voyage embodies over 80 years of combined experience between Wild Turkey Master Distiller Eddie Russell and Appleton Estate Master Blender Dr. Joy Spence.

For Voyage, Dr. Spence and her team hand-selected some of the finest casks from the iconic Jamaican rum house – casks that once aged Jamaican pot still rum for 14 years, casks that she knew would complement and accentuate the bold top notes and rich caramel undertones of Wild Turkey’s extra-aged bourbons.

The casks were brought to the Wild Turkey Distilling Co. in Lawrenceburg, KY, where they were filled with Eddie Russell’s own hand-selected batch of 10-year-old bourbon and finished a secondary maturation period in the Kentucky heat of a timber rickhouse. The result is a tropically influenced American icon, bursting with a palate of fruits, caramel and aged oak.

Moment

Wild Turkey's “Master’s Keep Voyage” is to be served neat in a tasting glass to best appreciate its full character, depth and complexity. It is first-nosed to allow the drinker to become acquainted with the aromas and to capture the personality of the liquid. Then it is tasted neat, with the first sip used to coat the mouth with the whiskey. The process is to be repeated with the addition of a few drops of room-temperature water via a straw or eye dropper to open the spirit and reveal the rich layers of fruits, caramel and aged oak.

The drinker will first notice a nose of vanilla, oak and fruit that transitions to molasses, rum cake and allspice. The whiskey is sweet and creamy on the palate with a long-lasting finish.
