Nestled in the heart of Jamaica, in the beautiful lush Nassau Valley lies the Appleton Estate – the oldest continuously operating rum distillery in Jamaica. Appleton Estate enjoys a privileged position, situated in a karst – a rare landscape of limestone hill formations which produce pure azure water that feeds locally harvested sugarcane and adds a signature flavour to its rum.

100% Pot Still Rums
Pot-still rums' character-driving congeners confer a uniquely dark and rich aroma to the spirit, complex but fruity and syrupy. About as rich as rum gets. At Appleton Estate, all pot still rums are distilled in a Forsyth Pot Still, made of 100% copper and designed exclusively for the Estate.

Single Propriety Marque
Most expert rum makers blend different marques together to create various expressions. Hearts Collection is the first time that Appleton Estate has ever released a single-marque rum. What makes 2002 different is that it was aged for 20 years, compared to the market's 10-12-year-old single-marque rums.

Small Selection of Casks
Casks N 404082 through 404101, for a total of only 20 casks, were bottled for this unique release.

Minimum Ageing 21
Distilled in 2002 and bottled in 2022, aged for 20 tropical years in the climate of Jamaica (63% ABV), 2002 showcases the exceptional stock of ageing liquid resting at Appleton Estate.

The art of tasting Hearts Collection should follow a 3-step ritual:

  1. Pour 1 oz of Hearts Collection into a snifter. Swirl the amber liquid and appreciate the honey gold ring of age.
  2. Nose the rum and scent the subtle aromas of cinnamon wrapped with nutmeg. Air the rum and reveal notes of honeyed vanilla, rich oak and orange blossoms.
  3. Take a sip of the rum and seduce the palate with a complex long dry oak finish. The result is a luxury sipping rum with remarkable body and complexity.
