MYTH

Provenance

The Côte des Blancs and Aÿ are home to magnificent Grands Crus terroirs. The grapes grown here are used to craft some of the region’s finest Champagnes; while the unusual combination of those two terroirs in a 100% Chardonnay brings a distinctive balance between the legendary Purity inherited from Côte des Blancs and the atypical intensity offered by Aÿ.

Legacy

In the late 90s’, the innovative James Lallier – grandson of Lallier’s founder – decided to go against tradition by which Chardonnay is chosen exclusively from the Cote des Blancs. Among the vineyards he bought from René Brun, selecting a parcel of Chardonnay from Aÿ, in the heart of Pinot Noir country. Thirty years later, this original, calculated innovation has defined this outstanding offer.

A Pinnacle of Chardonnay

Inspired by Lallier’s sincere respect and understanding of its terroirs, this pure Chardonnay is grown on hillside chalky plots, allowing the vine’s roots to penetrate deeper, providing excellent drainage, yet still retaining sufficient moisture for nourishment. Attributes that add up to a glorious expression of a 100% Chardonnay.

Characteristics

Purity & Intensity
Lallier Blanc de Blancs is a delicate, slender and luminous wine. The white floral notes melt into caressing pastry notes. Blanc de Blanc takes Chardonnay’s already high standards associated with purity and builds greater intensity and character to the liquid.

Creative Diversity
Lallier’s cellar master and his team revisit the classic Blanc de Blancs category with creativity and savoir-faire. Beyond the fine terroir selection, the combination of maturation in stainless steel tanks (90%) with 228L wooden barrels (10%) add up to blend complexity, while the long aging on lees completes Blanc de Blancs signature profile.

Seasonal Benefit
Timing the harvest is the single most important decision a grower or winemaker makes each year. The benefits of terroir are not year-round and therefore perfectly timed harvests ensure that the Chardonnay grapes used in Blanc de Blancs are perfectly matured and at their pinnacle.
